What you'll actually do.

01

Learn the traditional techniques

Our expert bakers walk you through the traditional method — no baking experience needed.

02

Bake four scones from scratch

Your own dough, your own hands. Out of the oven, warm and golden, in under an hour.

03

Sit down to a British tea tasting

Try multiple loose-leaf English teas alongside your warm scone, clotted cream, and strawberry jam. Settle the cream-or-jam-first debate yourself.

04

Take three scones home

Wrapped in a kraft bag for the train ride home. (Or polish them off on the walk to the tube — we don't judge.)

05

Get a scone-making certificate

Personalised with your name. The most British piece of paper you'll ever own. Frame it. We dare you.

06

Learn the history while you bake

From Mary Queen of Scots to the Devon-vs-Cornwall jam war. Proper context for a proper bake.

Frequently asked

Right, let's answer the obvious ones.

Do I need baking experience?

None at all. The instructor walks you through every step. We've had people who'd never used an oven nail it.

Do I put cream or jam first?

Devon: cream first. Cornwall: jam first. We'll explain the history, then let you pick a side. Wars have started over less.

Is the tea tasting included in the price?

Yes — a proper traditional British tea tasting is part of every workshop. Multiple loose-leaf brews, properly steeped, served alongside your warm scone with clotted cream and jam. No instant teabags in sight.

Where is the workshop?

1 Pratt Mews, Camden, London NW1 0AD. Nearest tube: Camden Town.

How long does the activity take?

60 minutes from welcome to take-home bag. Aprons on, hands in flour, in the oven, out of the oven, into your mouth.

Is the activity suitable for everyone?

Honest answer: not yet. The workshop isn't currently suitable for wheelchair users, vegans, or guests with gluten or lactose intolerance. We're working on alternatives — drop us a line and we'll let you know when they're ready.
